JSW Group has set up JSW Motors Limited as their own passenger vehicle company and they are ready to launch in India this year. The first vehicle will be the Jetour T2 SUV.
Unlike the partnership with MG via JSW, JSW Motors will create vehicles under its brand instead of having Jetour branding on them. The Jetour T2 will be manufactured in India at JSW’s new greenfield facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra and will be sold in dealerships in the third quarter of 2026.
JSW is clearly committed to providing greener transportation options in India. Although the Jetour T2 has a petrol version available worldwide, in India, it will only be sold in the T2 i-DM plug-in hybrid version.
The T2 i-DM will be powered by a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid engine. Depending on the version, it will be available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive; however, it has not yet been determined which of these options will be available in India.
Looks like the T2 is going for that retro rugged boxy style found on the likes of Land Rover’s Defender. The key difference between the two designs is that the T2 is built with a monocoque chassis design, which is somewhat similar to a traditional ladder-frame design. As far as its overall size goes, the T2 is a large SUV that is:
Approximately four and a half meters in length.
Close to two meters wide.
Contains a larger area of land than a Tata Safari.
It is available as either a five-passenger (5+2) model or as a longer six- or seven-passenger (7+) version that can be found globally.
Jetour (brand) is a fairly recent company (founded in 2018) that is run by the Chinese car manufacturer Chery. The brand is predominantly geared toward SUV production, although Jetour does have cars sold throughout China, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
